Fortnite announces David Beckham collaboration: Watch
David Beckham teams up with Fortnite for first-ever in-game appearance
David Beckham is officially joining Fortnite as the latest celebrity to be added to the game's popular Icon Series.
Epic Games has announced that the former England football captain will be added to the Fortnite Icon Series on July 17.
The announcement was made through a trailer released on YouTube, where Beckham's in-game character is shown scoring a powerful goal before watching the replay while wearing a "Club Owner" outfit.
The trailer also revealed a second style in which the character appears shirtless with glowing gold tattoos across his body.
The tattoos are reactive and light up whenever players secure an elimination in the game.
The collaboration includes several outfits inspired by Beckham's most recognisable looks, including a black suit and a football kit featuring his famous number 7 shirt.
The collaboration includes additional cosmetic items such as the Meteor Baller Pickaxe and the Number Seven Scythe Pickaxe.
Players will also be able to use a new "Shot Emote," which allows players to recreate Beckham's famous free-kick technique that inspired the phrase "Bend It Like Beckham."
Beckham said he was excited to work with Fortnite and praised the game for creating new ways to connect with fans around the world. He added that the collaboration celebrates both his football career and his life away from the sport.
The 51-year-old becomes the latest football star to appear in Fortnite after previous collaborations with players including Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, and Marco Reus.
