Kris Jenner's mother Mary Jo 'MJ' Shannon dies at 91

Kris Jenner has announced the death of her mother, Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon, who passed away at the age of 91.

The reality television star shared the news in an Instagram post on Thursday, July 16.

“Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ,” Kris began in a lengthy emotional tribute. “There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye.

Kris, 70, thanked MJ for the sacrifices she made, the lessons she shared and the support she gave throughout her life.

At another point, Kris also reflected on how much her mother influenced the person she became, saying every success in her life was shaped by MJ's guidance.

MJ was a familiar face to fans of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, where she made regular appearances.

Before becoming known through the reality series, she founded the children's boutique Shannon & Co. in San Diego in 1980. In past interviews, she shared memories of her grandchildren spending time in the store, including Kim Kardashian helping count money as a child.

MJ was married to businessman Harry Shannon for 40 years until his death in 2003.
