Nancy Guthrie update: Heart condition sparks new fears for Savannah Guthrie mom

When Nancy Guthrie was taken away from her home on Feb. 1, she was 84 and reportedly suffering from a heart condition.

Given such a situation, Jody Weis, a former FBI special agent in charge and former Chicago police superintendent, has painted a grim picture.

Appearing on The National News Desk, he said, "You think about that 84-year-old woman with a heart condition ripped out of her house in the middle of the night.”

"Nothing good happened after that incident for someone in that condition."

Amid the grim outlook, Weis also pointed out glaring issues during the investigation.

"The first thing that's unusual is it seems like all the negotiations are going through TMZ," he said.

"In every case I've been involved with, communication is set up with the family or with law enforcement."

In addition, a new ransom note about Nancy’s disappearance has been received.

Sheriff Chris Nanos – who is leading the investigation – has publicly called the note not genuine.

Similarly, Weis said whoever sent the note did not provide enough evidence to consider the letter authentic.

"If you've got this phone with all this great information on it... give a piece of that to convince the family that it's real," he said.

In the meantime, an investigation is ongoing into Nancy’s disappearance as her family continues to plead with her captors to release her.
