Post Malone calls late Oliver Tree 'beautiful soul' after fatal helicopter crash
The singer-songwriter and rapper passed away tragically on June 14 at 32
Post Malone took a moment in the midst of his concert to pay a homage to late musician Oliver Tree, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in Brazil.
During the 30-year-old star's the BIG ASS Stadium Tour Part 2 gig in Toronto, Malone told the crowd that the show was dedicated to Tree.
Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, said the concert is "a celebration of the life of an absolutely beautiful, beautiful man.
“[Oliver Tree was a] gentleman I knew and was so beautiful, and inspired the world with his art … We lost a beautiful soul."
He continued to gush over the late fellow artist, looking at the sky, "I just want you to know dude, that we love you so very much … We’re just gonna have a great night and celebrate this gentleman.”
Then, as a moment of celebration for Tree and his wonderful work in music, Malone poured his beer in a glass on the stage.
Tree, who rose to fame with his hit song When I'm Down, was among the six victims of the fatal crash when the aircraft collided with another helicopter with one sole passenger mid-air in Brazil on June 14.
Another notable figure in the crash was Gaspar Prim, who was an Argentinian YouTuber known as Gaspi.
The Bury Me Alive singer was in Brazil for his first world tour and to promote his fourth studio album, Love You Madly Hate You Badly. He also performed in São Paulo on June 6
Post Malone kickstarted his BIG ASS Stadium Tour with Jelly Roll, who recently parted ways from his wife Bunnie Xo, on June 9.
