Travis Barker finally finds "peace" after Kourtney Kardashian love, says his doc directors
Travis Barker's life took a 180-degree turn after he fell in love with his “best friend,” Kourtney Kardashian Barker.
The directors behind the musician's new documentary, who saw him going through immense trauma for a decade, revealed that the Kardashian star's presence in Travis' life finally navigated him towards "peace."
Director Justin Krook said at Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear's world premiere at the Tribeca Festival, "We thought we had a finished film maybe four years ago or five years ago, but it turns out we only had like half of the film. We didn't have an ending because Travis still hadn't found that peace yet."
The film, which took over a decade to complete, recounts the ups and downs Travis faced during his musical career, including the near-fatal plane crash he suffered in 2008.
Justin continued, "He was at odds with the rest of his band but within the last couple of years, he's found the love of his life and I've really seen this sense of ease permeate him."
"I just see him relaxing the last few years," the filmmaker noted.
The directors eventually found where to take the story in the doc with the positive changes in Travis's life,
"A film about trauma and how do you overcome that," Justin shared.
However, the second filmmaker, named Michael Dwyer, noted, "It was not necessarily about overcoming [trauma] because I don't think you actually overcome [it], You actually live with [it]."
The filmmakers shared that in the last few years Travis finally reunited with his bandmates, he built an important bond and overcame his fear of flying; all of this occurred after the drummer got married Kourtney in 2022.
Travis himself admitted while speaking to People. "I knew in the back of my head, the end of this documentary is me getting on a plane again and facing my fear, which I didn't know was ever going to be possible."
"But years later, I fall in love with one of my best friends and amazing things happened. Who would have known?" he added.
