Royal family celebrates Princess Anne's historic achievement

The British royal family  on Tuesday marked Princess Anne's  historic achievement as an Olympian, 50 years after competing in the equestrian events at the 1976 Montreal Games. 

The royal family's official Instagram account celebrated the anniversary with a photograph of the Princess Royal wearing a "Great Britain" team jacket while mounted on horseback.

The celebration comes hours after the King Charles's sister represented her brother at an Investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle.

On Saturday, Charles and senior royals gathered at a ​village in south-west England  to celebrate the wedding of Princess Anne's businessman son, Peter Phillips, to ​nurse Harriet Sperling.

Anne was joined ​by her husband, Timothy Laurence, at ⁠the private ceremony at All Saints ​Church in Kemble, near Cirencester, by ​her brother Charles and Queen Camilla, as well as other senior royals including Charles’ ​son and heir, Prince William, and ​his wife Kate.
