Footballer George Knight has spoken out after suddenly leaving Love Island just days after entering the villa.

Earlier this week, ITV confirmed that George had left the Mallorca villa for “private reasons,” but no further details were shared at the time.

Now, George has addressed the situation in a statement posted on Instagram.

“Family comes first, always,” he wrote. The reality star explained that he decided to leave the show in order to be with his family, though he chose not to reveal more details about the situation.

“Out of respect for them, I’d prefer not to go into any further detail,” he added, while also thanking fans for their support and kind messages.

George entered the villa earlier this week alongside fellow bombshell Yasmin. Soon after arriving, the pair were given the power to secretly decide which boy and girl would be dumped from the show.

They eventually chose Ellie and Samraj, although a later twist revealed the pair had not actually left the competition completely.

During his short time in the villa, George formed connections with several contestants, especially Robyn. The pair even packed on PDA shortly before news of his exit was announced.

Because he lasted only a few days, George has become one of the shortest-serving bombshells in recent Love Island history.

Meanwhile, drama in the villa continues as new bombshells Priya and Kavan prepare to make another major decision involving Ellie and Samraj’s future on the show.

Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm.
