Las Vegas earthquake: preliminary 4.1 quake shakes Nevada

A preliminary 4.1 magnitude earthquake was reported near Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon, according to early seismic data released by monitoring agencies.

The quake struck around 1:47 PM local time and was centred roughly 14 miles west of Las Vegas.

Officials said the event remains under review and details could change as more information becomes available.

According to preliminary seismic data, the earthquake measured magnitude 4.07 and was detected using information gathered from 39 monitoring stations.

The event’s status and type were listed as “preliminary/undetermined”, meaning scientists are still assessing the quake’s exact characteristics and impact.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage following the tremor. Authorities have not issued any evacuation orders or emergency warnings.
