Jessica Simpson reveals painful truth she learned after quitting alcohol
The singer and actress reflected on battle that nearly held her back
Jessica Simpson is sharing a raw message about her past drinking problems.
The American singer and actress opened up about her sobriety journey while performing the track Give It All Away on Monday at Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, California, via The Hollywood Reporter.
Before her performance, Jessica shared the sentiments attached with the song. She told the crowd, “I realized that the drinking wasn’t numbing my pain, it was actually causing more pain.
“In all honesty, I’m just a work in progress, and I celebrate each and every day that I feel alive and in my body, and I’m very proud of myself.”
The I Think I’m In Love With You singer went on to say, “It felt right to share this song with you and I want all of you to know that you should have a little grace for yourself and everything is gonna be okay."
"If you just give it all away, and that’s what this song is about,” Jessica added.
Jessica, who has been vocal about her drinking problem, celebrated eight years of her sobriety journey back in November 2025.
“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing. Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of Gods purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency,” she wrote under a post posted on her Instagram account.
She made the decision to get sober back in 2017.
