Arsenal crowned Premier League champions for first time in 22 years

Arsenal F.C. have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City F.C. failed to beat AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday.

City needed a victory to keep the title race alive heading into the final day of the season.

However, Junior Kroupi’s 39th-minute strike gave Bournemouth the lead before Erling Haaland scored a stoppage-time equaliser that proved too late for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The result sparked celebrations outside Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium as supporters marked the club’s first league title since the famous “Invincibles” season of 2003-04 under Arsene Wenger.

Midfielder Declan Rice celebrated the moment on Instagram, posting: "I told you all ... it's done."

It is Arsenal’s 14th English league title, moving them behind only Liverpool F.C. and Manchester United F.C. in the all-time standings.

Manager Mikel Arteta secured his first Premier League crown after Arsenal finished runners-up in each of the previous three seasons.

Arsenal can now complete a historic double when they face Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in the Champions League final on May 30.
