Plastic surgery or facelift? John Travolta's Cannes look sparks speculations
John Travolta was surprised with an honorary Palme d'Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival, before the premiere of his directorial debut 'Propeller One-Way Night Coach'
Hollywood star John Travolta looked unregainable in a cream beret, round glasses, sharp beard and black suit for his directorial debut premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
US screen legend on Friday received an honorary Palme d'Or prize at the festival, before the premiere of his directorial debut "Propeller One-Way Night Coach."
"It's beyond the Oscar, really," said an emotional Travolta, who has been nominated twice for the prestigious award.
Hundreds of people took to social media, expressing surprise at how a 72-year-old could look so young.
While some marveled at his look others wondered whether the "Pulp Fiction" actor has undergone a plastic surgey.
"I need his plastic surgeons phone number," joked an X user commenting on a video featuring Travolta at the Cannes.
Another user who couldn't believe the actor was 72 wondered whether he was actually 72-year-old and whether a surgery was the reason he looked so young.
"Is he truly 72, if yes is it a case of surgery that made him look this good?" asked the user.
Many other users speculated about cosmetic procedures like fillers or a facelift over the years but John Travolta has never publicly confirmed any surgery.
However, some fans were convinced that good grooming and styling clearly played a big role in Travolta's latest appearance .
Travolta has been one of Hollywood's most enduring stars, breaking out in the late 1970s with his disco drama "Saturday Night Fever" and the Stephen King prom-night horror movie, "Carrie."
After a slump, the actor revived his career at Cannes with Quentin Tarantino's cult classic "Pulp Fiction" in 1994, going on to cement his Hollywood star status with films including "Get Shorty," "Face/Off" and "Hairspray."
"It's been a wonderful life, because I've got the beautiful arts of theatre, and of film and of singing and dancing and acting, and I also get the art of the sky."
The film, which is showing in the Cannes Premiere section of the festival, will be released on Apple TV on May 29.
