President Donald Trump under fire after admitting ‘America is nation in decline’
The statement comes after US President Donald Trump faced backlash for downplaying Americans' financial pains
President Donald Trump has once again come under fire for his comments after he concluded his high-stakes summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the first visit to China by a sitting US president since 2017.
The controversy stems from his recent interview with Fox News after China’s visit. During the interview, Trump shared what President Xi Jinping thinks about the American nation.
Trump said, "President Xi said something yesterday. He talked about and wasn’t referring to the last fifteen months. He talked about America as a nation in decline and I said, ‘you are right’”
“He said what you have done in 14-15 months is a miracle,” Trump added.
The affirmation from President Trump drew criticism from netizens. Some users took aim at the President for admitting this in front of the Chinese President and others thought this statement as factual given the worsening financial conditions in America.
One user wrote, “Might be the first time he said something true. The US is in the final throw of decline, collapse is coming sooner than you may expect.”
Another one pondered over prevailing conditions in the US, citing, “Opposite of my expectations of this President. I’m starting to feel less confident in the Country Leadership. The cost is outrageous and puts us in a standstill while the US is priced controlled by the setting of the world oil prices…..not sure if I can continue to support this. We suffer on price…..Trump takes all the wealthy businessmen to China to make deals. We stand alone with hopes that affordability will finally become stable since we really haven’t had it over the last 6 years. This is not good for America at the moment.”
The third one commented, “We all know he didn’t say that about Biden right? We’re at the point where our President lies through his teeth to the American people every single day.”
“Wait, doesn’t he always claim we’re in the golden age?” Another one questioned.
The fifth user commented, “Man, if the country is in decline we should probably get new leadership. Maybe the current leadership could step down. Just a thought….”
Even before going to China, President Trump also ignited another controversy related to Americans’ financial situation.
Trump said, “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation, I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing – we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon, that’s all.”
In Friday’s interview, he also defended his earlier statement, citing, “That’s a perfect statement, I’d make it again,” Trump told Fox News’ Bret Baier.
