Nancy Guthrie search gains renewed hope after Elizabeth Smart comments
Nancy Guthrie the mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing from her Arizona home since February 1
The search for missing Nancy Guthrie has entered its four month. Despite the efforts of police authorities, no breakthrough has been achieved.
As the public is losing hope in the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, here comes the comments of Elizabeth Smart.
Speaking to CNN, Smart urged people and close relatives of Nancy not to even lose hope as there is still a possibility that she could be alive.
“She could absolutely still be alive,” Smart said.
The American activist also highlighted the case of missing persons where they had been found alive even after years.
"There are cases that span many more years than mine does, and they came back alive. We are talking years and years, so she could absolutely still be alive."
"Of course, there is the alternative, but until we know? We have to keep looking...she deserves—either way—to be brought home," Smart added.
Elizabeth Smart is the right person to offer this hope as she was abducted at the age of 14 in 2002 and held for nine months before being rescued.
Reflecting on her ordeal, she emphasizes that her survival serves as a powerful testament to why we must never stop searching for the missing, even as the years slip by without answers.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing from her Arizona home since February 1. Despite receiving thousands of tips and analysing videos and DNA-based evidence collected from the crime scene, neither the Pima County Sheriff Department nor the FBI have been able to identify suspects.
As per an official statement released by Pima County sheriff Chris Nanos, both the FBI and sheriff’s department have been working closely on the case in order to carry out "thorough, coordinated, and fact-based investigation.”
