Anna Wintour teases Meghan Markle with invitation to Kate Middleton for Met Gala 2026?

Anna Wintour reportedly has invited Princess of Wales Kate Middleton to Met Gala 2026 after claims Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were snubbed.

However, Kate has declined Anna Wintour’s Met Gala Invitation again for a very personal reason.

This has been claimed by royal expert Rob Shuter in his latest piece for substack.

The Met Gala will be held on May 4 and is being co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Vogue’s global editorial director, Anna Wintour.

The insider tells the expert that Anna made a personal, determined push to land the Princess of Wales for fashion’s biggest night.

She views Kate as the one royal who could instantly eclipse everyone else on the carpet.

The sources said, “Kate is the one celebrity Anna wants and cannot get. That is the obsession.”

The appeal was obvious, the expert said Kate's appearance on the Met steps would have instantly revived memories of Princess Diana’s iconic 1996 debut, when she arrived in a slinky navy Dior slip dress, a seven-strand sapphire-and-pearl choker, and sapphire-and-diamond earrings — jewels later inherited by Kate.

However, “This was never only about Diana,” says a source close to the situation. “Anna wanted Kate because Kate is the ultimate prize.”

The fresh claims came days after reports Meghan and Harry have not been invited to Met Gala 2026.

One of the reasons the royal couple have been snubbed is that of Meghan’s fractured relationship with Anna Wintour.

The insider has claimed that Anna Wintour thinks Meghan and Prince Harry ‘make everything about themselves.’

Wintour has been unimpressed with Meghan — especially after she and Harry fled the royal family.
