French President shares a video of King Charles III jokingly responding to US President Donald Trump
French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday expressed admiration for King Charles's response to US President Donald Trump's remark that if it were not for the US, European countries would be speaking German.
"That would be chic!" Macron said on X, sharing a video of the British monarch's comments.
Addressing Donald Trump at the White House, King Charles said, "You recently commented, Mr. President, that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Dare I say that if it were not for us, you'd be speaking French?"
The video shared by the French president has already garnered over a million views within a couple of hours after it was posted.
King Charles' comments sparked laughter in the room full of Trump aides and administration officials. Even President Trump couldn't help but laugh.
