'The Boys' star Erin Moriarty details scary fall on set: 'Lost ability to walk'
Erin Moriarty plays the character of Annie January also known as Starlight in the Prime Video series
The Boys star Erin Moriarty revealed that she has been injured several times on the set during filming that she lost the ability to walk.
Following the release of the fourth episode of the fifth and final season of the Prime Video series, in which Moriarty plays Annie January aka Starlight, she took to her social media to share the details of her injury.
“Okay, so: season 5, episode 4 of The Boys is one of the most important episodes I've ever shot,” she wrote on the Stories along with a picture of her leg wrapped in bandage. “Unfortunately, that part of the season coincided with my health issues peaking before my diagnosis. I am saving you the gnarly part of this picture but not long after this episode, I started to lose the ability to walk.”
She further explained her condition, “The numbness in my feet led to a lot of falling. The night before we shot my segment of this episode, I fell and shredded up my knee.”
Expressing her irritability over her autoimmune disease, Moriarty added, "I barely have any bts shots of this season, especially as things worsened. This isn't a pity post. It's mostly to say: f*** autoimmune disease. F*** it so hard. F*** the ignorance surrounding it, too. I can't remedy that ignorance but not being outspoken about it occasionally, feels wrong."
The Blood Father actress announced her Graves' disease diagnosis in June 2025, sharing that the condition had left her exhausted and nauseous.
“One thing I can say: if I hadn’t chalked it all up to stress and fatigue, I would’ve caught this sooner,” she said at the time.
According to the website of Mayo Clinic, Graves' disease "is an immune system condition that affects the thyroid gland. It causes the body to make too much thyroid hormone. That condition is called hyperthyroidism."
