Martin Short's family confirms passing of daughter Katherine Hartley Short, at the age of 42

Canadian actor and comedian Martin Short confirmed the death of his daughter, Katherine Hartley Short, at the age of 42, on Tuesday.

In a statement to CBC News, a representative for the Hamilton born entertainer said: "It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short.”

"The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all, and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world."

Katherine is survived by her brothers, Henry and Oliver. Her mother, Nancy Short, died in 2010 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

According to media reports, Katherine was found dead at her Hollywood Hills home on Monday evening.

Several outlets reported that she died by suicide, citing the Los Angeles Police Department.

Katherine was not involved in the entertainment industry but was often seen accompanying her father at public events.
