Kanye West's position under threat at the Grammys: Read why
Kanye West, so far, has not reacted publicly to the development after the 2026 Grammy Awards result
Kanye West has a celebrated career. He boasts several awards in his cupboard, particularly at the Grammys, where he was for a long time second among rappers in total awards won.
But his position, it appears, is precarious after Kendrick Lamar won Best Rap Song for tv off and Best Melodic Rap Performance for luther at the 68th award ceremony.
He now stands in second place, tied with Ye, with 24 trophies. But these victories are helping Compton's rap star not only to surpass the Donda hitmaker but also may beat Jay-Z, who is currently at the top with 25 gongs.
In the meantime, reports say West was not invited to the 68th Grammy Awards. But according to a source, who told The U.S. Sun, there was fear that Ye could pull off a stunt similar to last year's.
“The Grammys will never give Kanye tickets again. He is not welcome," the source says, adding, “It’s unlikely he will try to crash this year, but you never know. He is always unpredictable."
However, so far, no such incidents have been reported, which lends weight to the apology Ye recently issued in the Wall Street Journal via an ad.
“I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change," he said in a lengthy apology.
