'Home Alone' star Daniel Stern reflects on overwhelming fame
Daniel Stern played the role of Marv in the flick
Daniel Stern has gotten candid about his famous project, Home Alone.
In a new chat with PEOPLE Magazine, the actor, who plays the role of hapless criminal Marv in the flick, opened up about the weight of being part of one of the most beloved Christmas films of all time.
While Stern has previously said he appreciates the movie's enduring success, he admitted that experiencing that love up close can sometimes be overwhelming.
“I love knowing that everybody loves it but, like, actual people come at me and say, 'We love it.' It's a little overwhelming sometimes,” he told the outlet.
Stern also revealed he has no plans to participate in any upcoming 35th anniversary celebrations for the 1990 classic and he is a call person.
“I don't leave my farm. It's no offense to the movie. I'm just a phone call, Zoom call, I'm in but I'm a bit of a homebody,” he explained.
Looking back on the film, Stern said he always sensed it was something special.
"I did know that it was a gem of a movie. John Hughes wrote the funniest script I've ever read. I mean, I was rolling on the floor, laughing reading it. It was so funny, but it was also full of heart and you know, the kid and the neighbour saves him and he and the mother reunite," the 68-year-old concluded.
