Prince William has changed his stance over Prince Harry’s fight for security in a shocking twist with reports claiming he now understands why his brother is so desperate about having security.

According to Closer Magazine, William and Kate Middleton have developed a new level of empathy for Harry and Meghan Markle after repeated security scares at their Kensington Palace home.

Last month, an intruder named Derek Egan entered the Kensington palace grounds twice just days before Christmas.

This was not the first security scare for the Prince and Princess of Wales as back in October 2024, two masked intruders broke through a gate and climbed a six-foot fence at Windsor Castle while the couple and their three children were asleep nearby at Adelaide Cottage.

Then again, in June last year, another person was arrested for trespassing at the castle and carrying drugs.

Now, the royal insider said that William now understands on a personal level, the fears Harry has long raised about his family’s safety in the UK.

Even though the royal feud with Harry remains unresolved, William and Kate’s take on Harry’s security battle have changed.

“This experience made William understand Harry’s point emotionally, not intellectually. When you’ve had someone breach your home, the fear is no longer theoretical. You stop debating policy and start thinking like a parent,” the insider said.

They continued, “William still disagrees with how Harry handled many things, but he no longer dismisses the security concerns. He’s lived them.

“Kate understands now why Harry pushed so hard, and has said this is the one issue where she truly feels for Harry.

“Fear strips everything else away – pride, anger, old arguments. What’s left is just instinct. This brought a level of empathy that wasn’t there before.

“It stopped being about arguments – and became about protecting your children.”
