Miley Cyrus reveals personal loss inspired 'Avatar' anthem: 'Start again'
The pop star shared why 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' song hits deep
Miley Cyrus revealed the new song she wrote for Avatar: Fire and Ash is coming from a personal space.
In a recent chat with People, the Flowers singer opened up about writing her new song, Dream as One, sharing that it's about her own experience of "rebuilding" her Malibu home that burnt down in a wildfire back in 2018.
“In the title alone, Fire and Ash, I've had my own experience with rebuilding from the ground up,” Cyrus told the outlet.
While referring to the wildfires that occurred earlier this year in January in Los Angeles, she said, “I felt after we experienced the fires this year, lately we've all had this idea of being there for each other and stepping in when your people need it.”
“Not just your family, but your chosen family as well,” Cyrus continued. “And the resilience and courage that it takes to start again. And somehow finding that all you really need is each other.”
Earlier in May 2025, the Disney alum opened up about losing her home, which she shared with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. She said, losing the home was “the biggest blessing I've ever had in my life, what I would have told my younger self is to appreciate those darker times … they are only leading you into the light.”
