George Clooney says he knew Donald Trump 'very well' during his early days in Hollywood
George Clooney is opening up about his past friendship with President Donald Trump.
Speaking to Variety on Tuesday, the 64-year-old actor revealed that he knew Donald "very well" during his early days in Hollywood.
“I knew him very well,” said the Oscar-winner actor. “He used to call me a lot, and he tried to help me get into a hospital once to see a back surgeon. I’d see him out at clubs and at restaurants.”
The Jay Kelly star further told the outlet that Donald's demeanor changed once politics came into his life.
“He’s a big goofball,” said George. "Well, he was. That all changed.”
The Wolfs star believes that the United States is currently struggling amid Trump's presidency.
"It’s a very trying time," explained George. "It can depress you or make you very angry. But you have to find the most positive way through it. "
"You have to put your head down and keep moving forward because quitting isn’t an option," added the actor.
His comments come a day after France officially granted him citizenship, along with his wife, Amal, and their two children.
