Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner’s official cause of death has been laid bare.
The Spinal Tap director and his wife died from “multiple sharp force injuries," according to a statement released by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner on Wednesday, December 17.
The news came just hours after the couple's son, Nick Reiner, made his first appearance in Los Angeles Municipal Court since his parents’ deaths.
Nick’s attorney, Alan Jackson, told reporters outside court that his arraignment was postponed until January 7, 2026.
“First of all, and most importantly, this is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Reiner family. We all recognize that. Our hearts go out to the entire Reiner family,” Alan said.
The lawyer further told the reporters that there are “very complex and serious issues” associated with this case, adding, "These need to be thoroughly but very carefully dealt with and examined and looked at and analyzed."
"We ask that during this process, you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward. Not with the rush to judgment, not with jumping to conclusions, but with restraint and with dignity and with the respect that this system and this process deserves and that the family deserves," added attorney, as per Page Six.
For those unversed, Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on December 14.
Later that evening, police arrested the couple's son, Nick, on suspicion of murdering his parents.
