Selena Gomez gets real on melasma after fan asks about mustache
Selena Gomez responded to mustache question with humor
Selena Gomez got honest about her beauty routine when asked about her grooming habits by a fan.
The Calm Down singer took to her Instagram account to respond to a question regarding her mustache that left her laughing.
Gomez, who appeared makeup-free in the video posted to her stories, said, "Someone made me laugh because they asked me, “How do you shave your mustache?'"
"It's actually not! It's my melasma. I take care of it and I treat it, but yeah no, it's there," she admitted.
"I totally get it," she added, while urging her followers to use sunscreen. "It's from the sun."
According to Cleveland Clinic, "Melasma is a skin condition characterized by brown or blue-gray patches or freckle-like spots. Melasma happens because of overproduction of the cells that make the color of your skin."
The Only Murders in the Building star has been embracing her natural beauty over the course of her career. She said in a previous interview with Vogue that she sometimes gets "lazy" with her skincare routine.
"I notice when I get stressed or something I break out more or I get lazy with my routine so I feel like it's just become a part of it. And I just deal with whatever I got that day," she told the outlet in 2024 for its Beauty Secrets episode.
