Nick Reiner has been arrested and is being held “responsible” for the deaths of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner, per Los Angeles police.
Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood home on December 14. Authorities said the couple’s daughter discovered the bodies.
According to reports, Rob and Nick had a loud argument at a holiday party on Saturday, which was hosted by Conan O’Brien.
Sources said Nick appeared agitated and caused concern among guests, and Rob and Michele left the party shortly afterwards.
TMZ reported that the filmmaker and his son Nick got into a "very loud argument" during the Christmas party.
"Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,” an eyewitness told People Magazine.
Nick has been booked on suspicion of murder and now the police says he is "responsible" for the murder of his parents, per CNN.
Hollywood icons have been pouring in tributes for the couple with Viola Davis saying in an Instagram post, “Some losses are beyond words.”
“Rob… the canon of your work, the passion of your advocacy, the BIGness of your beautiful soul will be immortal,” she added.
Robin Wright said, “I am deeply shocked and devastated. Rob was one of the most loving, compassionate, and kind people I have ever known.”
“He was an extraordinary director and the impact he had on me has stayed with me throughout my career. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
