As 2025 nears its end, two films stand out in the category of biggest flops at the box office this year: Sydney Sweeney's Christy and Disney's Ella McCay.
Starting with the sports biopic made on Christy Martin, a well-known boxing champion. There was quite a buzz about this on social media, but the film only raked in $35 million on a $15 million budget.
Despite escaping a major financial loss, the Sydney-starrer film suffered not only the worst domestic opening but also an equally brutal drop in the second week.
But Christy's losses pale in comparison with Ella McCay. It starred Emma Mackey. Jamie Lee Curtis and Woody Harrelson.
The opening of the Disney movie is considered one of the worst in history, as it has only grossed $2.1 million domestically.
Despite Ella McCay becoming Disney's worst wide opening in its history, Zootopia 2, another movie from the studio, apparently covers the losses by raking in over a billion dollars from worldwide box office.
