Former US President Barack Obama has paid a touching tribute to American director Rob Reiner, who was found death with his wife at their southern California mansion.
The former president took to X, formerly Twitter handle and shared a heartbreaking tribute.
He tweeted, “Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele.”
Obama further said, “Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose.”
“They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them,” he added.
Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead at their southern California mansion, US media reported on Sunday.
Two people were found dead at the home of When Harry Met Sally and Princess Bride director Reiner, local broadcaster NBCLA and other media outlets reported.
NBC media later cited a source close to the family, saying that the couple had been found dead of what appeared to be stab wounds.
Broadcaster CNN reported that a spokesperson for the family had confirmed Reiner and his wife had died.

According to a report by the Sky News, Reiner was a champion of liberal causes and a political activist.
The filmmaker, in the 2004 presidential election, backed Democratic candidate John Kerry and featured in advertisements taking aim at incumbent President George W Bush.
He also extended his support to Democratic presidential hopefuls Al Gore and Hillary Clinton.
