Dick Van Dyke, who survived a car fire, receives birthday tribute from Piers Morgan
The comedian, who was rescued by a passersby when his car caught fire in 2013, is celebrating his 100th birthday
Journalist Piers Morgan took to social media to share birthday tribute to veteran actor Dick Van Dyke, who turned 100 on Saturday.
Sharing two throwback photos with the comedian, Morgan wrote,"Happy 100th birthday to the magnificent Dick Van Dyke. What a wonderful character, still so full of life, energy and humour. Love him."
From "Mary Poppins" to "Night at the Museum" and his own long-running TV comedy, Dick Van Dyke has done it all during a show business career spanning seven decades.
In 2013 he received a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild, just a year after his 1960s "Dick Van Dyke Show" co-star Mary Tyler Moore received the same honor.
Months later, the veteran actor, best known for his hit television comedy of the 1960s, survived a car fire unscathed when a passerby pulled him from the smoldering vehicle before it burst into flames on the side of a Los Angeles-area freeway.
