Jamie Lee Curtis finally shares her retirement plans: 'I am done'
Jamie Lee Curtis opens up about her retirement plans
Jamie Lee Curtis will definitely retire from acting but does not know when.
On Tuesday, December 9, the 67-year-old American actress and film producer attended the premiere of her new movie Ella McCay in Los Angeles, California.
While conversing with PEOPLE magazine at the event, Jamie talked about her retirement, reminiscing about her recent interview with the Today show’s Willie Geist, to whom she said that she has "probably claimed retirement four times" before.
She told the outlet, "I am done self-retiring. But no, of course I'll retire. What he didn't use was the example I was giving was my parents. So, what he didn't use was the context of that statement.”
"The context of that statement was I watched my parents, who loved this industry, who were mega stars. I'm a little minor twilight,” the Academy-winning actress quipped, referring to her famous parents Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis.
Jamie went on to highlight that "they were mega, mega in their era and they were denied access to the very thing they loved to do, which was the movies, acting in the movies.”
“And I watched both of them lose that life force because of aging and just getting older. They just didn't have those opportunities, and it was heartbreaking,” the Everything Everywhere All at Once star admitted.
It is pertinent to mention that Jamie Lee Curtis, who is playing the role of Helen McCay in the forthcoming movie Ella McCay, will be released in cinemas on December 12, 2025.
