Meghan Markle has doubled down on her claims that she reached out to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, amid reports about his serious health issues.
According to reports, the Duchess of Sussex’s 81-year-old father underwent a three-hour “life or death” surgery to have his leg amputated after being rushed to the hospital due to illness.
Following the reports, it was claimed that Meghan had not contacted him with Thomas telling Daily Mail that he had not heard from Meghan, but "would love to speak to her" while he still can.
However, sources close to Meghan confirmed she sent an email to her father on December 5.
Meghan’s team said they had kept the email private to protect the family’s privacy and avoid more public attention.
They told GB News, “The Mail made no attempt to contact the Duchess’ team, prior to publication to verify the claims in their report.
“Had they asked – particularly in light of the quotes they relied upon from Mr Markle and hospital staff – we would simply have told them to ask Mr Markle to check his email.
“We first saw the story only after it was published. We immediately informed the Mail that the duchess had, in fact, emailed her father – a detail we had deliberately chosen not to share in order to avoid further dragging this private matter into the public eye.”
