Adam Scott once took full advantage of a case of mistaken identity.
Early in his career, the Severance star was mistaken for Australian pro golfer Adam Scott when he checked into a hotel.
"A long time ago, like 20 years ago, I checked into a hotel in New York, and they thought the reservation was for the golfer, Adam Scott," he told People.
"I was not of note or a known person at all yet," he noted.
"They rolled out the red carpet and just made this big fuss over me," the Severance star continued, "[They] brought me back into the manager's office and gave me this suite — the whole time thinking I was the golfer. I didn't correct them. I was like, ‘This is great.'"
Scott later broke out with his role in 2008's Step Brothers starring Will Ferrell before his fan favorite role in the 2009–2015 NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.
Scott even considered changing his surname to Quardero, a shorter version of his mom’s last name, Quartararo.
"Maybe I was just like, ‘Uh oh. This guy's getting really, really famous. What am I going to do here?'" Scott said, but he ultimately decided against it because his profession is worlds apart from the athlete’s.
"They're such separate fields, and no one would ever mistake me for an athlete," he remarked.
"I don't know why we've never met," he said. "It seems like something we should do."
