Dick Van Dyke speaks highly of late Walt Disney: 'Loved him'
Walt Disney succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 65 on December 15, 1966
Dick Van Dyke recently got candid and revealed that he might be the last person who knew the real Walt Disney.
The 99-year-old American actor and comedian recently organized a Vandy High Tea charity event at his residence in California. The event also had a two-hour Q&A session, sing-along performances from Dyke with special guests, and a meaningful reflection on his longstanding career.
While reminiscing about his relationships with different luminaries, the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang actor opened up about his bond with the famed producer.
Reflecting on his connection with deceased American animation film producer and voice actor Disney, Dyke said, “I got to know Walt, I’m probably the last person alive who did. I got to know Walt pretty well, and we just got along.”
“We decided that emotionally we were both 13 years old and that's why we love to do children's entertainment,” he shared.
“He was a big kid, just so full of enthusiasm, and I just loved him," the Night at the Museum star revealed, singing praises of Disney, pioneer of the American animation industry.
It is pertinent to mention that Chris Isaacson Presents produced the Vandy High Tea charity event to raise funds The Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and the Dick Van Dyke Museum, which is currently in the developmental stage.
