Chanel releases short film announcing A$AP Rocky as new ambassador
The appointment adds to what has already been a high-profile year for A$AP Rocky
Chanel has appointed A$AP Rocky as its newest brand ambassador.
To mark the announcement, Chanel released a new short film directed by Michel Gondry and starring Rocky alongside Margaret Qualley.
Speaking about taking on the new role, Rocky said the artistic director, Matthieu Blazy, is “pushing fashion forward,” per NME.
“Matthieu’s imagination is pushing fashion forward. His designs feel both sensitive and strong; they’re grounded in reality but at the same time, always invite one to wonder. I’m so excited to see him at Chanel.”
Meanwhile, Blazy also praised Rocky as an artist who “puts his heart and soul into every project” and “always delivers with kindness.”
He also called the rapper’s “talent, curiosity, and limitless creativity” a natural match for the fashion house.
The appointment adds to what has already been a high-profile year for Rocky. The rapper was acquitted in February of charges related to a 2021 shooting incident, welcomed his third child with Rihanna in September, and headlined Rolling Loud California.
He also appeared in several films, including Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest and indie hit If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
The show will be revealed on December 2nd, 8 pm, NYC time.
