Shocking: Dead Thai woman found alive in coffin
Woman found alive in coffin moments before her cremation
Unbelievable! A dead Thai woman was found alive in a coffin.
The shocking incident kept everyone’s attention after her family travelled 500km with paperwork declaring her dead before temple staff heard knocking from inside coffin.
A 65-year-old Thai woman was discovered alive in her coffin just before her cremation rituals were about to begin at Nonthaburi temple near Bangkok.
Temple workers who livestream cremations as part of their community services were preparing her body for her last rituals on Sunday, November 23, 2025, when they suddenly started noticing movement.
The workers at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham opened the coffin and found the woman breathing and lightly tapping on the wooden interior.
The temple manager, Pairat Soodthoop informed, “I saw her opening her eyes slightly and knocking on the side of the coffin. She must have been knocking for quite some time."
The abbot, without delay, immediately halted the proceedings and ordered that she be taken to the hospital.
The Thai woman, who was identified as Chonthirat Sakulkoo, had been bedridden for about two years, and according to her brother, Mongkol Sakulkoo, her health had steadily declined during that time.
As reported by the Bangkok Post, Mongkol said, “I’ve cared for my sister for three years, and officials told us she had died.”
“As all of her documents had been issued, we placed her in a coffin and brought her to the temple for the last rituals of funeral and cremation,” he added.
