Zayn Malik reveals real reason of leaving 'One Direction'

Zayn Malik has spilled an inside detail about how the management worked when he was in One Direction.

The 32-year-old kickstarted his career after auditioning for X-Factor in 2010. Through that reality show, he was put into a band that turned out to be the world’s most famous English-Irish pop group.

Zayn considers his X-Factor audition a “life changing” opportunity as it gave a major boost to his career with the formation of 1D.

However, he also admitted that he wasn’t “convinced” with the kind of music their band was selling.

According to him, the management already had a planned mindset for the kind of music the band had to deliver.

The management’s perception did not really move Malik.

He said at BBC Radio 1, "There was just a general conception that the management already had of what they want for the band, and I just wasn’t convinced with what we were selling.”

The Dusk Till Dawn singer had it in mind that such kind of music was not for him.

"I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me. It was music that was already given to us, and we were told this is what is going to sell to these people.”

Zayn said that it all felt weird considering that they were the biggest most famous boyband in the world.

“We were told to be happy about something that we weren’t happy about”, he said

Malik was the first member to leave the band in 2015. Late in 2016, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson also announced an indefinite hiatus.

Work wise, the Night Changes singer is reportedly busy working on a documentary film with Tomlinson.
