Hollywood actress Kate Winslet finally broke her silence on her first meeting with King Charles, then Prince of Wales, revealing details of her unforgettable encounter with the British royal.
The Academy Award-winning actor shared a humorous story about a near fashion disaster, saying, 'I forgot about the fact that I was wearing a kind of a transparent lace outfit.'
Titanic star Winslet, who is set to attend Kate Middleton's signature Christmas carol service in December, shared the 30-year-old awkward moment during a Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance.
The 50-year-old shared the story when host Jimmy Kimmel asked her about her role as an ambassador for The King's Foundation, one of monarch' personal charities, and she said that it's remarkable to meet him.
The actress went on, 'He's a very gentle, personable individual, but he is the King, and it's quite something to meet him.'
'The first time I met him, oh my goodness, he had come to support the premiere, it was a royal premiere, of Sense and Sensibility, when I was only 20.'
She continued: 'And I sort of hadn’t realized that we were really going to meet him, and so I forgot about the fact that I was wearing a kind of a transparent lace outfit.'
And thank God I had worn a coat because as he is making his way towards me, I’m like, 'N***les, 'n***les, 'n***les, oh my God!'
She added, 'And someone just went, 'Coat!' and I went, 'Your Majesty!' basically covering myself in a cape.'
In June, Winslet was announced as an ambassador for The King's Foundation, taking on an official role with the charity Charles established in 1990 to create communities where people, places and the planet can harmoniously coexist.
