King Charles braves London storm to serve up food waste fight with smile
King Charles samples leftovers like royal foodie on a mission
King Charles braved London’s blustery wind and rain with characteristic charm as he stepped out to celebrate the second anniversary of his Coronation Food Project.
The monarch, all smiles despite the soggy conditions, was at Fortnum & Mason to highlight the initiative he launched in 2023, aimed at cutting food waste while tackling hunger across the UK.
Since its inception, the project has expanded its reach with operational hubs in Merseyside, Birmingham, and London, turning royal vision into practical action and proving that even in drizzle, the King’s commitment to fighting food insecurity is unwavering.
Charles took a hands on approach to tackling food waste, he inspected ready-made meals like a royal foodie on a mission.
At the Piccadilly store, the King met senior executives from Alliance Food Sourcing, who demonstrated how their clever collaboration has reinvented food redistribution across Britain.
From “would-be bin fodder” to plated perfection, the meal samples on display were destined for communities facing food insecurity proving that even leftovers can have a royal stamp of approval.
The anniversary gathering brought together big-name supermarket heavyweights Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Marks & Spencer alongside charity partners The Felix Project and FareShare.
