Royal family celebrates King Charles 77th birthday with new portrait
King Charles appears little older, but still in high spirits, in his 77th birthday portrait
King Charles tried to showcase elegance and warmth as he marked his 77th birthday with a new portrait from the Sandringham Estate on Friday, November 14.
In the photo, shared on the royal family's official Instagram account, the King appears little older, but still in high spirits, wearing an open-necked shirt with a jacket and brogues while leaning gently on his shepherd's crook.
The monarc was all smiles and in high spirits as he posed for the picture by photographer Millie Pilkington.
The royal family wrote on Instagram: "77 today! Thank you for the kind words and well wishes on His Majesty's Birthday."
King's newest picture garnered likes and hearts from thousands of royal fans, with hundreds of followers wishing the King a happy birthday.
The monarch is celebrating his birthday with a trip to Wales, where he will meet homegrown stars from the worlds of heritage, art and culture.
King Charles' new picture from Sandringham comes as the monarch personally oversaw a "remarkable" three-year restoration project that has transformed the gardens. He took over the running of the 20,000-acre estate from his late father, Prince Philip, in 2017.
