Inside Meghan and Harry's growing friendship with the Kardashian-Jenners
Prince Harry joined Meghan Markle at Kris Jenner's 70th birthday bash at Jeff Bezos' mansion
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle mingled with Hollywood’s biggest names during Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday bash hosted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s Beverly Hills mansion over the weekend. But how exactly did they end up there?
On Saturday, November 8, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured at the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch’s birthday extravaganza, posing with the birthday girl Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and mingling with guests.
The guest list included some of the biggest names both in and out of Hollywood, from Stevie Wonder and Adele to Mark Zuckerberg and Tommy Hilfiger. Fellow matriarch Tina Knowles was also in attendance, as was her superstar daughter Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z. Justin and Hailey Bieber, Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton, Naomi Watts, Mariah Carey — the star-studded list goes on.
The Duke and Duchess received an invitation to the event at a noteworthy time — just as Meghan made her return to acting after eight years, her last role being Rachel Zane in Suits. She had quit the show right before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry and entry into royal life.
But it wasn’t long before they stepped down from royal duties and moved to the US in 2020. They settled in the Montecito neighbourhood of Los Angeles, where stars ranging from Rob Lowe to Natalie Portman have owned properties over the years.
Currently, the Sussexes are next-door neighbours to Oprah Winfrey, so at least there was a familiar face at the party. But back in August, Harry and Meghan reportedly welcomed another neighbour: Kendall Jenner, the second-youngest daughter of Kris Jenner.
Meghan Markle sends Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian a PR package
Around the same time in August when Kendall reportedly moved into her $23 million mansion in Montecito, previously owned by Ellen DeGeneres, Meghan sent her new neighbour's family gift packages from her lifestyle brand, As Ever. Khloe received a basket containing her signature fruit spreads and rosé, while Kris received a 3-bottle package of her Napa Valley vintage wine.
They shared pictures of the thoughtful gift, which Meghan reposted to her Instagram Stories, writing, “Hey hey all my girls with a K” along with a kissing face emoji.
Kim Kardashian deletes photo with Meghan Markle amid backlash
Two days after what is being dubbed the party of the year, Kris’ eldest daughter Kim Kardashian shared a carousel of pictures from the night, and one of them included Meghan Markle.
In the image, Kim and Meghan posed together with the reality TV star stunning in a slinky purple gown. Harry was also visible in the background, engaged in conversation.
However, the picture has since disappeared from Kim’s original post, according to US Weekly.
Palace insiders react to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle at Kris Jenner’s party
Matching in all-black for the James-Bond-themed party, Harry and Meghan were first pictured arriving hand-in-hand at the event, which took place the night before UK’s Remembrance Sunday.
Harry, the youngest son of King Charles, did wear a red poppy to pay his respects while the rest of the royal family attended various services. Still, fans and Palace insiders alike are reportedly appalled at the hypocritical display.
Speaking to Page Six, one palace insider who works with the royal family remarked, “It’s so tacky.”
