Ed Sheeran surprises Irish fans with secret concert on achieving major milestone
Ed Sheeran honoured Dublin city on inspiring his music and making him a globally successful singer.
The Sapphire hitmaker put out an unexpected gig for devoted fans on November 3 in Dublin.
Up to 2,000 people were invited to the secret concert at the Industries Hall with fans only being told about what was happening just hours before the show.
According to the Irish Mirror, fans invited were told, "As a top fan and premium user on Spotify, you’re invited to an exclusive Billions Club Live concert celebrating Ed’s biggest hits."
"This intimate one-night-only event will bring his most iconic songs to life – just for his biggest fans in Dublin," it added.
During the show, Azizam singer reminded them of his family tree branches in the country. His father, John, is a native of Belfast, while his mother's family hails from County Wexford.
In addition to his Irish familial background he also revealed another reason why the country is so special to him.
"The reason I wanted to do it in Dublin is that this is the place where I decided I wanted to be a singer-songwriter," he said.
He performed his songs that have reached a billion streams. The set-list included Shape of You and I See Fire, finishing with Galway Girl and a rendition of The Parting Glass.
Sheeran is set to embark on Loop Tour in support of his album Play, beginning from December 1 in Paris. During the tour he will perform in Dublin on December 9.
