Meghan Markle social media return: big mistake or great opportunity?
The Duchess of Sussex once again garnered backlash as new video dubbed 'staged'
Meghan Markle recognised the importance of maintaining a presence on social media at the beginning of 2025. Whether the attention was positive or negative, the Duchess continues to show up on Instagram.
On January 1st, Instagram users saw the Duchess of Sussex running barefoot on the beach as she welcomed the new year with her return online.
Within minutes, fans highlighted that Meghan attempted to re-shoot her video as 2025 was written on the sand twice.
Prince Harry's wife did not stop since then, as she made back-to-back announcements about her new ventures.
The cooking show on Netflix, With Love, Meghan, the lifestyle brand As Ever, and the podcast Confessions of a Female Founder have kept Meghan in the headlines.
Alongside professional milestones, the former Suits actress began delighting fans with glimpses of Archie and Lilibet in her everyday photos and videos.
However, not all her content sits well with people, as she herself recently admitted to having a "complicated" relationship with social media.
Most recently, Meghan shared a small video clip on her Instagram stories, showcasing herself celebrating the Dodgers' success while her husband appears upset.
Notably, the update came just around the time when the royals in the UK were going through a tough phase after wrapping up the Andrew saga.
Kelly Mckee Zajfen, Meghan's pal, also shared the same video on her IG, writing, "Best game ever!!! Sorry, H [Harry], your team didn’t win, but mine diiiiiiiiid. @dodgers I LOVE YOU!!!!"
Netizens once again raised questions about Meghan's authenticity as the video appears to be "staged."
A social media user wrote, "LOOKS SO FAKE." Another penned, "Load of performative fakery! She just so happened to have a camera set up."
What future holds for Meghan Markle?
By advocating for a safe online space, the Duchess of Sussex noted that adopting lifestyles similar to those of Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian may cost the Sussexes the privacy they often discuss.
Reports suggest that Meghan is planning to launch a new business, likely her own makeup or skincare line.
It is hard to determine if the Duchess's return to the online world was a wise decision, but she certainly knows how to stay in the spotlight.
