Chinese artist hopes to act as a comedic ambassador between the US and China
The United States President Donald Trump has a unique style and many people around the world love to impersonate him. Several people have gone viral doing his mimicry and among them one is getting viral from China.
China’s Trump impersonator, Ryan Chen, 42-year-old business manager from the city of Chongqing, has gained massive traction since the U.S. president took the oath in January this year.
In only a few months, Chen has accumulated nearly a million followers (995k) on Instagram and almost 900k on TikTok (over a million on the Chinese version of TikTok) due to his captivating videos. The Chinese Trump wants to use his stardom to bridge culture divides.
In an interview with CNN, Chen shared how his journey of mimicking the style of President Trump started.
He said, “I was playing a Truth and Dare game with my friend and lost it. My friend dared me to mimic Trump and post it online,” adding that his post went viral instantly.
When asked about how he can impersonate Trump so easily despite having never been to America, Chen replied, “I am just gifted”.
Amid increasing tensions between China and the U.S., the Chinese artist hopes to act as a comedic ambassador between the great powers and spread happiness.
