Liam Neeson expresses disappointment over humanitarian crisis

Liam Neeson has expressed his disappointment over humanitarian crisis in South Sudan.

The Northern Irish actor, who is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, went to Sudan on a six-day visit but he was “deeply saddened” to see the worse condition in the war-torn country.

In the pictures shared via Daily Mail, the Taken actor could be seen interacting with local communities, playing football as well as visiting school.

Liam also felt bad to see the starving children as well as mothers in dire condition due to aid funding crisis.

The Naked Gun actor then warned in a press statement that children “should not have to fend for themselves,” after the closure of hundreds of “lifesaving” treatment centres in South Sudan.

In one of the photos, Liam was seen wearing a UNICEF vest as he played football during Young Dreams Foundation sports tournament in Juba.

“Despite experiencing many challenges when he was growing up, with a little support and a lot of dreams and hope, he has built up a fully-fledged sports academy, with UNICEF and donor support,” stated The Ice Road actor.

Liam was also seen standing with the founder of the YDF Alaak Kuku during his trip to see the impacts of funding cuts on children's lives.

In another picture, the Absolution actor was spotted sitting with a mother and her three-month-old daughter who was vaccinated against polio at the Al Sabbah Children's Hospital.

During his trip, Liam shared, “I visited the main referral hospital in the capital Juba and was deeply saddened by seeing so many malnourished children.

'They are hauntingly quiet when they should be laughing, sleeping when they should be playing, crying when they should be smiling,” remarked the 73-year-old.

“With treatment sites closing around the country, I ask myself what will happen to those children?” stated the Non-Stop actor.

Liam concluded, “It's a powerful reminder that we should never write off young people, however challenging their situations.'
