Prince Andrew seems to have finally conceded to give up the last symbol of his life of impunity and privilege as major movements are taking place at Windsor Great Park.

The former Duke of York, who boasted about staying firm on “cast-iron” 75-year lease on the 30-room mansion Royal Lodge, is reportedly packing his bags to move into a much smaller property, something he has been resisting for the past few years, Frogmore Cottage.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had received Frogmore as a wedding gift from the last Queen Elizabeth II but were evicted in 2023, just three years after their exit from the UK and their senior royal positions.

After Andrew, who further relinquished his royal titles and honours earlier this month, had put forward to give him Frogmore and Adelaide Cottage following his eviction. Now, a report in The Sun revealed that there have been workmen seen doing renovation work as the former home of the Sussexes “for weeks”.

“People have been inside Frogmore Cottage working day and night. Over the weekend the lights were on after dark,” an insider told the outlet. “And workmen have been coming and going for weeks.”

The source noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had made repairs worth £2.4million on the property just six years ago, which is why it “shouldn’t need a lot of work done”. Moreover, Princess Eugenie has also lived there briefly during lockdown.

A formal announcement about the move has not been made but reports have recently claimed that there have been “advanced talks” happening about the matter.

Insiders believe that Palace will be making a statement to finally end Andrew’s reign at Royal Lodge.
