Prince Harry's past comments on his uncle, Prince Andrew, is resurfacing as the royal remains at the centre of ongoing controversy.

When Harry and Meghan made bombshell announcement of stepping back from royal full-time royal duties, the decision sent shockwaves to the nation.

The late Queen and her advisors swiftly ruled out a 'half-in, half-out' arrangement, resulting in the couple losing key privileges-including taxpayer-funded police protection-despite Harry claiming in his memoir that he and Meghan faced the same security threats as the monarch herself.

In stark contrast, Prince Andrew, who stepped back from public duties in 2019 following a disastrous BBC Newsnight interview about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein and allegations from Virginia Giuffre which he denies, retained his state-funded security for years.

In Spare, Harry expressed frustration over the perceived double standard, writing:

'Despite being involved in an embarrassing scandal, accused of having sexually abused a young woman, nobody had suggested removing his security. People may have a lot of grievances towards us, but sexual offences weren't one of them.'

Andrew's protection reportedly continued until 2022,with the late Queen covering the cost privately thereafter. King Charles reportedly maintained that support for a time, but is said to have ceased funding in 2024 to pressure Andrew to vacate Royal Lodge.

The contrast debate comes after Andrew announced he would relinquish the use of his duke title and royal honours after a brief conversation with Charles-a symbolic move, but one that does little to quiet renewed scrutiny over how differently his situation was handled compared to Harry and Meghan's.
