Royal family updates official website after major shakeup
Buckingham Palace removes Andrew's Duke of York title from his page in latest blow
Buckingham Palace has finally updated the royal family's official website to reflect Prince Andrew's decision to give up his Duke of York title.
After Prince Andrew's bombshell announcment, the royal family's official website changed his webpage.
All references to Andrew's Duke of York title were removed in the latest blow to the Prince, however, his page remains live and featured on a landing page for family member's bios.
On the other hand, references to his title still live within the text, including a line that reads, "The Duke of York's active service with the Royal Navy spanned 22 years until July 2001."
The page also highlights his service in the Royal Navy along with his biography.
It also features the 2022 statement about Andrew stepping back from his public role as well as losing his military affiliations and patronages.
However, the page has not been updated with his latest statement about discontinuing use of his royal title.
In a statement released by Buckingham Palace on October 17, Queen Elizabeth's second son Andrew, 65, announced he will no longer use his title as it distracts from the work of King Charles and the royal family.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie's father has been best known as the Duke of York since his 1986 wedding to Sarah Ferguson, when his mother gave him the title, which traditionally goes to the monarch's second son.
Prince Andrew, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, stepped back from his royal role in 2019 following his BBC interview in which he discussed his relationship with the convicted sex offender.
Queen Elizabeth then stripped Prince Andrew of his military titles and patronages in early 2022 after a judge rejected his attempt to have Virginia Giuffre’s sexual assault lawsuit against him dismissed.
The royal settled with Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, out of court for an undisclosed sum.
