King Charles wipes away tears visiting Manchester Synagogue after tragedy

King Charles has once again shown his compassion and steadfast leadership, travelling to Manchester to stand in solidarity with the city’s Jewish community following the shocking attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue earlier this month.

The visit, filled with quiet empathy and reassurance, underscored the monarch’s commitment to unity and healing in the face of violence. 

During his engagement at the synagogue, which reopened its doors last Thursday for the first time since the October 2nd attack, the King met with members of the congregation, including several who were present during the terrifying incident.

Charles listened intently as survivors and community leaders shared their experiences, praising their courage and resilience. 

He also met with emergency service personnel, personally thanking them for their swift and selfless actions in protecting and supporting those affected.

The city of Manchester is still coming to terms with the horrific events of October 2nd, when a violent attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue claimed two lives and left three others seriously injured. 

The assault sent shockwaves through the Jewish community and the nation as a whole.

Rabbi Daniel Walker spoke movingly about the synagogue’s return to worship. 

“I’ve been surprised by the question a few times, is the shul open? People seem to imagine that we wouldn’t be we most definitely are,” he said. 

“Many people were nervous about returning, understandably. But the vast majority were able to come back, feeling comfortable, happy, and grateful to be here again. This building remains a place of sanctity, holiness, and home.”
