Prince Harry, Meghan issue delightful update after New York trip
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex releases statement over new achievement after major honour
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were honoured for their charitable endeavours with a prestigious Humanitarian award, had been in New York for the past few days for a number of engagements.
The couple, who founded their Archewell Foundation in 2020 following their exit from senior royal positions, were praised for their “willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world”.
After the major accolade, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a statement via the Foundation to share a delightful update about the progress they have been making to raise voices for girls.
Highlighting last year’s efforts to mark International Day of the Girl, they revealed that Archewell had joined Pivotal Ventures and the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation to support a partnership between Girls Inc. “to provide digital wellness programming for young girls in underserved communities across America”.
For this year, the foundation revealed that the initiative has continued to expand its work and launched the New York State x #HalfTheStory Teen Tech Council, “ensuring youth voices are represented in shaping what healthy educational environments look like in a digital age”
“As New York moves toward phone-free schools statewide, the Teen Tech Council brings students directly into dialogue with leaders and policymakers to share their perspectives on how to best support mental health, connection, and learning in schools with limited phone use,” they said.
“Over time, the Council will expand to include students from across New York, amplifying the diverse, young voices, including those of young girls, in this important conversation.”
The Sussexes surmised that they will continue to “empower” young people and young girls so they have the right tools to shape their digital futures.
