Prince Harry is taking a prudent approach following his reunion with father King Charles as he revives his fight for security in the UK.
The Duke of Sussex had lost his security appeal just five months ago to the UK Home Office in a “devastating” blow. Immediately after the verdict was announced, an visibly emotional Harry had appeared in a BBC interview, revealing that his father had not been speaking to him as the case was going on.
He had shared that he was “gutted” but wished to have a reconciliation with his family, which eventually led to the meeting between Charles and his younger son at Clarence House last month.
The father and son had met after nearly two years and the meeting had seemingly gone quite well. Although it was only weeks later when details of a shocking security breach were reported – a ‘stalker’ had come in the ‘secure zone’ of the 41-year-old royal in two separate occasions.
Following the incident, Harry has once again written a letter to the new Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, to intervene and do a proper risk assessment. However, royal editor for The Sun, Matt Wilkinson pointed out that Harry has taken the careful step of not involving his father.
It was reported that the King had not been speaking to his son during the court case because there were “fears” that he would be asked to intervene in the in the legal discourse and cause a constitutional crisis.
Sources close to Prince Harry have maintained that he “just wants an RMB assessment which he believes he is entitled to”. They also note that the Prince is “not asking for his father to intervene”. Although, a spokesman for Prince Harry has declined to comment on the matter.
It also comes as royal source stressed to The Times that the King “cannot and will not lobby” for Harry to get his police protection as “that’s inappropriate”.
It is possible that Harry is actually just keeping his battle with the courts alone and heeding the warning of his father, given that he had just reconnected again.
