Social media blows up after Diddy’s 4 year sentence: 'Absolute disgrace'
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been sentenced to four years in prison
Netizens erupted across social media after Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to just four years in prison over decades of abuse allegations made by Cassie Ventura.
Critics have been expressing their frustration in angry tweets and the viral CCTV footage has resurfaced again showing Diddy hitting the 39-year-model, with whom he was in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2007 to 2018.
The public’s outrage is impossible to ignore, with many slamming the sentence as far too lenient for someone accused of such serious crimes and terrorising women.
One wrote on X (Formerly Twitter), “Diddy only locked up for 4 years when he has terrorized women for literal centuries as an abuser and r-pist.”
“How tf do you sit down and watch this video and only give diddy 4 years…” another wrote, referring to the footage retrieved from a hotel lobby recording the disgraced music mogul assaulting Ventura.
A third added bluntly, “After terrorising, abusing, and violating women and men for 90 years, diddy getting 4 years is an absolute disgrace.”
Another user highlighted the surprisingly short sentence with a lighthearted yet pointed comment, “Diddy sentence so short that he’ll be out of prison and Spider-Man beyond the spider verse still won’t be out in theatres.”
For the unversed, the disgraced music mogul has been sentenced to over four years in prison after a nearly two-month federal trial, which ended in July with the former American rapper being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the 50-month sentence on Friday, a punishment that landed between what prosecutors and Diddy’s defense team had been fighting for, TMZ confirmed.
However, the Bad Boy For Life singer was acquitted of more severe charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion after Ventura, who had an on-again, off-again relationship with the 55-year-old Harlem-born from 2007 to 2018, filed a lawsuit in November 2023 in New York.
The 39-year-old singer, dancer, actress model alleged that she had been raped, trafficked, and physically assaulted by Combs multiple times under a period of ten years.
